Brynjar Hammer, fra Høylandet i Nord-Trøndelag, kom seg senere over til England. Var en av de få norske offisererene som fikk aktiv krigstjeneste i britiske avdelinger. Som løytnant i Kings Own Borderers ble han såret to ganger før han falt i kamp i Holland (Njiemegen) 26/9-1944.
